Hello,
My name is Cassandra Jans, I am currently participating in a six month volunteer program called Katimavik. The first three months of the program I lived in Terrace Bay, Ontario where I worked in an elementary school (École primaire). For the next three weeks my work placement will be in the Bibliothéque Jean-Rivard working primarily with Diane and Ida. Following my stay in Montreal I will be traveling with my Katima-family to Yellowknife for a month.
Information about me:
I am from Strathmore, Alberta (right outside of Calgary) where my twin brother (Thomas) and I have lived with our parents for the past six years. I have played on a basketball league in Calgary with the same group of girls, which is a ton of fun. This past year I have graduated high school at Holy Cross Collegiate where there were 30 graduates.
Plans after Katimavik:
The Katimavik program I am currently in will end February 17, where I will go home and work, volunteer, and spend time with my family and friends. After some time of working and raising money I will be doing another six month program that I have signed up for (Canadian World Youth), in hopes of going to Ukraine. Once this program is over I am planning to attend Mount Royal (a college in Calgary, Alberta) where I will get my business degree and open a franchised restaurant.
I believe that I am living in a time where there are so many possibilities to do so much, any where imaginable. Considering this, my plans may change, but I am passionate in doing these such things that I can say I will most likely be doing this, plus more; if that may be working at an orphanage in Brazil or volunteering in Ukraine and around Canada with eight others.
